Holidays in Venice
One of the most important questions that arises for all tourists: where exactly to stay in Venice? It should be noted that on the island itself, hotels are far from cheap, but there are many recreation centers that are around. The price of rooms here is from 15 euros.
You either fall in love with Venice right away or you don’t completely accept it, but this city leaves no one indifferent. Even the air here is some other, full of many thoughts, emotions and incredible sensations.
Located on 118 islands in the Venetian lagoon of the Adriatic Sea, Venice is connected by 160 canals and 400 bridges. This is the only city in the world where there is no ground transportation. But when you swim in the gondola past the medieval buildings in the water, listening to the quiet song of the gondolier, you realize: this is the place that you just need to feel.
The heart of Venice is Piazza San Marco, the entrance to it is guarded by a winged lion, which is a symbol of this city. The stunning cathedral of San Marco, the construction of which involved the famous sculptors of that time; the ancient Doge’s Palace, on which such geniuses as Bellini, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto and others worked; Campanila’s bell tower 100 meters high – all this creates the grandeur of this place. You stand in the middle of the square, surrounded by an incomprehensible excitement from the greatness of the Venetian Gothic, and a flock of heavenly birds rises above you – the sensations are simply amazing.
On the side of the square lies the main street of Venice – the Canal Grande, on the other side of which there are magnificent castles. The most popular of them is the Golden House, which was built in the 15th century, now it houses an art gallery. The famous and oldest bridge of Venice, the Rialto Bridge, runs through the main street. A local opera has been built not far from Piazza San Marco, and the famous Venice Biennale is held here.
Tourists are the main source of profit for local residents, the richest of whom are gondoliers: their earnings reach 20,000 thousand euros per month. Believe me, there is nothing to be surprised, because an hour of riding a gondola costs 80-100 euros. Not everyone can become a gondolier: you need to have an attractive appearance and be endowed with natural charisma. Therefore, they are considered enviable grooms here, and spending the night with one of them is a great honor for tourists (at least the gondoliers themselves think so). Not everyone can afford an apartment in Venice: cheap are worth half a million euros, and creative people are ready to pay any price for the fact that this masterpiece city embodies calmness and creative inspiration.
