Holidays in Khakassia

Khakassia is a find for the traveler. It has everything: amazingly beautiful nature, ancient culture, famous and not so sights. The Minusinsk Basin, in which most of the Republic of Khakassia is located, is the richest archaeological site on earth. This is not anywhere in the world!

The first thing a traveler sees when arriving in Khakassia is the capital of the republic, the city of Abakan.A small cozy town surprises – clean, well-groomed, calm. It was here that the topiary art park, famous throughout the country, was laid out. Want to wander among the ancient Greek statues or climb the Eiffel Tower? Then to you in the “Gardens of Dreams”. In Abakan there are magnificent churches – Preobrazhenskaya and Saints Constantine and Helena, and in a nearby research institute a practicing shaman receives.
Being in Abakan, you have to solve a difficult problem – where to start the journey in Khakassia – from the mountains, steppes or lakes. It is best, if time permits, to travel the whole country from north to south to see it in all its glory.

On the lakes of Shira, Tus, Bele, you can take out in the mud, drink healing water and go on an excursion. Excursions in the Shrinsky district are great! Embark on the Tuim failure – the result of not very successful actions by local miners and look into the blue water of a bottomless lake. If you don’t have enough impressions, then you need to go to Malaya Syuya, where the oldest rock paintings, amazingly accurate mountain observatories and terrifying shaman caves are located.

Traces of ancient people can be found throughout the country – in the bare steppe here and there stone pillars are shown – either road milestones, or ritual centers. The most remarkable thing in Khakassia is that you can go along a seemingly ordinary road and suddenly see on the sidelines a trace of the past, so ancient that the Egyptian pyramids seem like new buildings.

Be sure to call on the Ankaz grandmother – the ancient well-preserved menhir. Some go there to ask their grandmother for happiness, others – to recharge their batteries, and for others it will be enough to touch a stone that has seen so much and knows so much.

The natural completion of the journey will be the Western and Eastern Sayans. There you will have to transfer from an iron horse to the present. There is nothing better than breathing in the purest mountain air with full breasts and, looking around, to see a picture that amazes the imagination with its beauty.

This is Khakassia – the land of a unique culture, respect for history and clean air, which the city dweller lacks so much.
