Brazil – wonderland
Brazil is not only Brazilian TV shows and noisy carnivals, but also the historical past. It is not surprising that many dream of traveling there. Travel agencies will be happy to offer a tour to Brazil. Advertising about inexpensive tours to this country can often be found on various sites. Therefore, those whose dreams have come true need to become familiar with the geography of the country. So, mainland South America. It is there that the most beautiful of the countries is located – Brazil. Its area is 8.5 million square kilometers. Washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil can shock even the most sophisticated person. In large settlements, luxury and large concerns, and in the forests – Indian tribes located in the Stone Age. Lush tropics are replaced by desert plateaus and noisy waterfalls.
Despite the fact that the capital of Brazil is Brasilia, tourists are attracted by the old capital – Rio de Janeiro. This is where a huge stream of people flock to participate in the Carnival. This bright holiday with people dressed in bright, catchy clothes was broadcast on television more than once. Some were lucky to win a prize in the form of a trip to the Brazilian carnival. But this does not attract many tourists. On Mount Corcovado there is a huge statue of Christ the Savior. A stone idol with outstretched hands silently gazes at the city and the people standing at its foot.
The history of this statue is very interesting. Christ the Savior or Christ the Redeemer was created in 1921. Therefore, this statue is pretty young. Work on its manufacture took nine whole years. Brazilian artists and engineers developed the project day and night, and then set to work on it. The original plan was a statue of Christ the Savior in the form of a statue reminiscent of a huge cross from afar. And the pedestal is in the form of the globe. But the final version presented to the world a figure with outstretched arms, standing on an ordinary foot. Its height reached 38 meters, the base – 8 meters. The statue was so huge that all its parts and frame were made in France. And then on top of the mountain was the assembly of an amazing monument.
An interesting fact is a flashing message that the statue of Brazil was allegedly presented by Mussolini. He sent the city as a gift this monument in a collapsible form. Probably historians joked. After all, Mussolini and Hitler more than once identified themselves with the heroes-deliverers of humanity from the red plague. Be that as it may, the creation of the statue is a project of Brazilian experts in honor of the centennial of Rio de Janeiro.
The winding staircase to the statue was eventually replaced by modern escalators. During her existence, wonderful things happened to her. In 2008, the statue was struck by lightning. And in 2010, an act of vandalism was recorded. At a great height, the vandals inflicted black paint in the form of inscriptions. The statue has been shown more than once in movies, in various films. Undoubtedly, this attraction will affect any of the tourists who visited at its base.
